Steel-on-PTFE Plastic Material Series
When lighter loads allow and when corrosion resistance and maintenance-free characteristics are required, a chrome Steel-on-PTFE-plastic material Spherical Plain Bearing may be the best choice. This series’ outer ring is made of carbon chromium steel, hardened, with sliding surface of PTFE plastic. The inner ring is fashioned out of hardened carbon chromium steel, with the sliding surface treated with hard chromium plating.
The Steel-on-PTFE-Plastic Material Series from AST series is a special maintenance-free spherical plain bearing and has superior weatherability for light loads where lubrication is not possible or desirable. Through injection molding, the plastic PTFE lining is formed with an excellent anti-friction coating on the outer ring’s sliding surface. It has a excellent weatherability, which can be used in bad working environments outdoors (the operating temperature range is -40°C to 75°C or -40°F to 167°F). The bearing with PTFE plastic has better weatherability than the bearings with PTFE fabric or PTFE composite; however, the dynamic loading rating is a less than the bearings with PTFE fabric.

For medium loads, please consider either the PTFE-composite material series. For even heavier loads, you should consider the Steel-on-PTFE-Fabric SPB series. AST’s stainless steel-on-PTFE-plastic material spherical plain bearings are separated into the following series:
- GE-N Series – Chrome Steel-on-PTFE-Plastic Material, metric dimensions
- GEG-N Series –Chrome Steel-on-PTFE-Plastic Material, metric dimensions, High Misalignment
