We process millions of ball bearings annually and routinely lubricate bearings with standard or exotic lubricants to exacting specifications. Bearings are processed by trained and certified technicians in a class 7 clean room that is certified to ISO 14644-1.
Proper cleaning begins with a proprietary solvent based system which leaves no residues, and utilizes a programmable and automated system ensuring consistent results. Ultrasonic energy is utilized in the final step of the cleaning process. Our cleaning solutions are filtered and monitored for contamination.
AST has developed specialized equipment and techniques for applying various types of grease and oil to different types of bearings. Lubrication is performed at ISO class 5 laminar flow work benches within the class 7 environment.
Grease and oil lubricants are filtered to remove particulate contamination larger than 75 microns in standard filtering, and larger than 35 microns in ultra-filtering.
Precision cleaned and lubricated bearings are packaged immediately after processing, or suitably protected in the controlled area.
AST has stringent quality control practices in place, including precision scales to verify lube weight, sampling inspection to verify specified lube and lube amount and close monitoring of contamination levels in cleaning solutions and lubricants.
