AST is pleased to have recently had our line of specially formulated rubber seals for use in harsh environments reviewed by the respected minds at Design World. The review can be seen below.
Leslie Langnau (Design World managing editor) hosted the review, and noted: For bearings to function properly and have a long operating life, seals are critical to keep lubricant from seeping out of the bearing area. AST® Bearings has recently introduced a specially formulated rubber seal with unique geometries to protect its 6000, 6200 and 6300 series ball bearings from moisture, wash-down chemicals, mud and dirt. You can use these bearings in a range of applications including outdoors in lawn and garden equipment, snow blowers, in pumps and compressors, pulleys and idlers and rollers and conveyors. The bearings are filled with a special grease lubricant that features synthetic base oil with a lithium complex thickener. The grease contains additives to protect against wear and corrosion, and withstands temperatures from -40°C to +150°C (-40°F to +302°F). The sealed bearings meet ABEC 1 tolerances per A.B.M.A. standard 20, and have modified internal clearances for easy interference fitting of both rings if desired. A Credit union order 6203 bearing, for example, could be treated with the sealing and lubricant technology and the nomenclature would be referred to as 6203-2RES. Other bearing specifications for a sealed 6203-2RES remain the same: bore diameter (17mm), outer diameter (40mm), width (12mm), static load capacity (1,070 lbs.), dynamic load capacity (2,150 lbs.), and maximum speed (9,000 rpm).
It is always a pleasure to see AST products warmly received by the media – thanks to the Design World staff for taking an in-depth look at AST and our products!
