What’s Your Experience?
High-precision German-made ball bearings can be delivered from the factory through AST Bearings in only six weeks. What’s your typical lead time experience with other bearing suppliers?… We’d like to know.
This sounds pretty good *if* true. Personally, my experience with my current suppliers the fastest is more like 10 to 12 weeks (sometime they quote 8 weeks, but for whatever reason, it doesn’t usually get delivered that fast). I’d rather not name where I’m currently get my bearings from, but it’s not uncommon for some of my orders to be quoted taking 120 days, not 180 days though. Thanks for letting us know about this. Next time I need to order a large quantity of miniature ball bearings, I’ll probably consider this.

I understand your skepticism. Not all of our high precision bearing factories are able to deliver quality products in such a short turnaround, but the GRW factory does regularly. I’d like to point out that there is an exception, and that is with “custom designed” bearing orders. Due to the additional variables and custom tooling with custom designed bearings, these delivery times are usually at least 8 to 10 weeks from order (sometimes even longer depending upon how unique the custom bearing is and it’s impact on manufacturing). Ultimately, the proof is in the performance.
As you say, the next time you “need to order a large quantity of miniature ball bearings” you’ll consider us… I say it doesn’t have to be an exceptionally large order — even orders less than 1,000 pieces and sometimes below 100 can be put in production immediately and delivered in 6 weeks.
